admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with severe burns on her
face and scalp as well as other parts of her lower body. Her
body has been wrapped in large swathes of fabric bandages in an attempt
to prevent the burnt skin from touching other areas injured by the acid
in the attack.Victims
often survive the acid attack but the physical and psychological impact
means that it can take survivors a long time to rebuild their lives

Many acid burns patients are forced out by their family due to the apparent social stigma associated with the attacks. Of
the 3626 victims of acid attacks from 1999 to 2015, 1847 were female,
901 were male and 877 were children, according to the Acid Survivors Foundation.
