World renowed French based music market, Midem, which is short for “Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale” has announced that Ghanaian hiplife and Afrobeats artiste, Sarkodie,
has been invited to be part of the artistic committee
for the second edition of their 2016 Midem Artist Accelerator (MAA); a
programme designed with the aim of fast-tracking budding musical talent
into the global spotlight. The Midem Artist Accelerator aims to
identify and develop emerging talent as well as support managers,
labels, agents and publishers seeking to grow their artists’ profiles on
the international stage. Sarkodie would be among respected industry
figures like Ethiopia Habtemariam , President of Motown Records & President of Urban Music/Co-Head of Creative, Universal Music Publishing Group (USA); Tom Windish, Founder of The Windish Agency – Paradigm Talent Agency (USA);Christian Bernhardt, Agent, United Talent Agency (USA); Brian Little, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Seed Experiences (South Africa); Horst Weidenmueller, Founder, !K7 Records (Germany); Laurence Muller, Founder and Managing Director, Snoot (France) and Lihui Shen, Founder of Modern Sky (China). Also returning after participating
on last year’s Committee are legendary promoterHarvey Goldsmith,
Founder of Artist Promotion Management (UK); industry veteran Rob Hallett, Founder of Robomagic (UK); and Christopher Kaskie, President of Pitchfork (USA).
The Midem Artist Accelerator is open to artists
over 18 and with a track record of initial success in their home
territory. The deadline for submissions is 21 February 2016
